How the groups are made
Names
Exchanges and coin profiles name categories in their own words. We fold the names that mean the same thing into one group, so “Layer 1 (L1)”, “Smart Contract Platform” and “Smart contracts” all count as Layer 1. Each group's page lists the names it was built from.
Figures
Market cap is price times circulating supply, the same figures as the full ranking. The 24-hour change is how far a group's combined market cap moved: each coin counts in proportion to what it was worth a day ago.
Which groups
A group gets its own page once 5 of its ranked coins have a known market cap, the same rule the market map uses for its filters. None of it is advice.
